THE FESTIVAL'S STORY

The Crieff Film Festival was created to celebrate our town’s proud connections with cinema while bringing new opportunities to the community today. With stars like Ewan McGregor and Denis Lawson showing what’s possible from a small Scottish town, the festival was designed to inspire the next generation to explore the many opportunities in the film industry. The festival delivers a film-focused extravaganza for Crieff locals and visitors alike. More than just film screenings, the festival is about pride of place, creativity, and building a cultural legacy for the future.

FESTIVAL HIGHLIGHTS

The Crieff Film Festival has already delivered some unforgettable moments. Opening night set the tone with a special screening of Denis Lawson’s much-loved classic Local Hero, a fitting nod to one of Crieff’s own. Across the weekend, audiences enjoyed a rich line-up of films starring Ewan McGregor - from Star Wars and Moulin Rouge to Christopher Robin and Salmon Fishing in the Yemen - celebrating another of the town’s homegrown stars. One of the most inspiring highlights was the Make A Film in a Day workshop, where young people were given the chance to learn new skills, collaborate, and see their own stories come to life on the big screen - proof that the spirit of cinema in Crieff is alive and well for the next generation.
