About the event
Set in the glamour of 1950s post-war London, renowned dressmaker Reynolds Woodcock (Daniel Day-Lewis) and his sister Cyril (Lesley Manville) are at the heart of British fashion, designing for royalty, movie stars, and high society under the prestigious House of Woodcock.
Reynolds is a confirmed bachelor, drawing inspiration from the women who pass through his life - until he meets Alma (Vicky Krieps), a strong-willed waitress who becomes both his muse and his lover. Their relationship unfolds with intensity and elegance, challenging the boundaries of control, creativity, and desire.
This was Daniel Day-Lewis’s final film before he retired, and it’s a masterclass in storytelling and style. One of the best scenes in the film Reynolds first meets Alma he orders an extravagant breakfast that reveals much about his character:
